I was just looking at this collection on the nyt website and was thinking about how we perceive art. It is a beautiful collection and I thought others might enjoy.

Thanks Jenn. There are some beautiful pieces in there. We don't talk about how we perceive art specifically in this class, but I think some of the discussion of gestalt as well as figure ground relationships are applicable.
ReplyDeleteI think attention is also relevant to this. I remember when I took a drawing class. One day walking home from class, I suddenly noticed how there was actually a lot of different kinds of snow on the ground. I had never "seen" it before; it had all just been the same until I started drawing and noticing subtle details and shading.
Thanks to the link. I am partial to the pencil drawings myself.
